I had been doing stollen for two year, this year I wanted to challenge something new,I love Christmas pudding,it brings back childhood memories, but there were two things that stopped me from making it.First one was a main ingredient 'suet',a beef fat,all Christmas pudding recipe call for it,instead of butter,I couldn't get it here but this time round I found it.Second concern was the timing, proper Christmas pudding need to be steamed for 5-6 hours,I don't have that much time to sit around,I steamed it in a pressure cooker. It tastes good(all those dried fruit and booze!),texture just a little stiff, may be the steaming method or my expired baking powder...I will work on that.... Merry Christmas!
Thank you Izoom San!! Although time was very tight for me,I did tried my best to do a Christmas post, took some shortcuts for the pudding, not perfect, but still happy with it! Merry Christmas to you too, enjoy your holidays!
Hi Rizmu, thank you for your compliment ! I had no time for daylight shooting,so I did this post at night, and it went well with soft lightings! I love many British food,I had good memories eating this pudding, but it's the first time I made. I used pressure cooker to steam, much quicker, the small ones came out too stiff, the bigger one I just ate,and actually not bad! Christmas is my favorite time,I have to make an effort to do something special.Glad you like it! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Makiko! I am enjoying so much! It's my favorite time of the year!! That's interesting topic in English books! I love many British food, but Christmas pudding is not easy to make,it takes a long time, pressure steaming actually works quite well!
Merry christmas Rick! Oh! You're in Hongkong Sorry😅Christmas day is the same, right! II got it mixedup with New year! (March isn't it?) Yes had a big celebration with the family...the kids came last Friday but left after christmas dinner...they will be back on New year's eve😊 May I ask? How did you celebrate you're christmas? ✨
No problem! I felt stupid for awhile that I couldn't get your joke 😬...In HK we pretty much have the same main holidays as other countries, only Chinese New Year is different every year, sometimes January and sometimes February. Nothing special for me these days,I don't really celebrate anything,I prefer quiet life, and this year I have to work over Christmas too,but that's a long story...
Rick❤️ Happy Christmas 🌟 What a lovely photo ! It looks perfect! Whmm, Christmas pudding . Once I've asked them why they eat this. The answer is smashing. " It's 'cause we just wanna put it fire on! See, we are crazy." I agree it was fun even if we had one from a supermarket.
I know to make this pudding needs huge effort😵 I've heard you have to steam half a day several weeks before Christmas, then wait till it mature and steam a few hours again on the day you want to eat. がんばりましたね😱
Hi Cocoa San,hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Thanks so much,it's my favorite time of the year, although I was busy,I had to make an effort! That's right, the flaming part is so special and fun,not crazy at all!! It's a lot of work, all the steaming, mature, and steaming again,I made some short cuts,I wasn't expecting them to be as good as the one I bought before, but the large one, which I saved for the last was really not bad,the right kind of texture and taste, after this one,I am more confident when I make them again next year!
