Custard & Jam tarts

Flour

Sugar (pastry)

Butter
75g
Jam of choice
Vanilla flavouring

Room temp. eggs

Fresh milk

Sugar (custard)

Room temp water

Mix the flour and sugar together, cube the butter and mix in until crumbled. Gradually add the water and knead to make pastry.

Use a little butter to grease a muffin tray. Cut the pastry using a circular cutter into 12 circles and add to muffin tray. Here you can make indentations to the edge of the pastry as desired.

Add a spoonful of jam to each tart until a third way full

Pre-heat over to 180° and add the tray when correct temp. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until pastry is a golden colour. Remove and allow to cool.

Make the Custard by whisking the eggs together, then slowly stirring the eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla essence over a low heat until thick. Allow to cool.

When both tarts and custard are cooled, add a spoonful of custard to each tart, then place in the fridge for 1 hour to solidify.

Serve when desired.
ポイント

I find berry jams work best, such as strawberry, raspberry, or fruits of the forest, but you can use which ever flavour you like.

To add a little extra twist, you can sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon to the top of the custard before chilling.
